Denny Chan Joins National Senior Citizens Law Center

LOS ANGELES – Denny Chan is now a staff attorney with the National Senior Citizens Law Center (NSCLC) in Los Angeles, CA.

Chan was a rotating law clerk for the US District Court in Los Angeles after graduating from the University of California, Irvine School of Law in 2012.

At NSCLC, Chan will focus on California’s dual eligible demonstration program in Los Angeles County.  Thousands of the county’s low-income older adults and people with disabilities will be moved into private managed care plans as part of the demonstration.

NSCLC is making sure the process and the California program are responsive to the needs of Medicare and Medi-Cal beneficiaries.  Staff provide frequent educational and training opportunities as well as advice to advocates on the new program.

“We are pleased to welcome Denny to our team working on this important initiative,” said Executive Director Kevin Prindiville. “There is still a lot of work to do to ensure that both advocates and consumers are not concerned and confused by the new system.”

Chan will increase NSCLC’s education and outreach efforts and work to build connections that strengthen the collective capacity of the community to serve seniors and persons with disabilities who will be impacted by this transition in health care coverage.

Chan is admitted to the California bar and is a graduate of the University of Michigan.
