Our Mission
The National Senior Citizens Law Center’s principal mission is to protect the rights of low-income older adults.
Through advocacy, litigation, and the education and counseling of local advocates, we seek to ensure the health and economic security of older adults with limited income and resources.
Since 1972, the National Senior Citizens Law Center has worked to promote the independence and well-being of low-income elderly and persons with disabilities, especially women, people of color, and other disadvantaged minorities.
We work tirelessly to preserve and strengthen Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security and SSI, benefits programs that allow low-income older adults to live with dignity and independence. In addition, we seek to ensure their access to the courts and to keep the courts open for justice.
Values
We envision an America where low-income older adults, regardless of race, language, or sexual orientation:
- Can live in dignity and safety and remain as independent as possible for as long as possible.
- Are free from the worry and pain that poverty or the lack of health care can bring.
- Are able to contribute to their families and societies as long as they can.
