WASHINGTON, DC – The National Senior Citizens Law Center (NSCLC) has hired Amber Cutler as a staff attorney in its Los Angeles, CA office. Cutler, who has extensive background in legal services, has joined NSCLC’s Health Team.
Prior to joining NSCLC, Ms. Cutler was general counsel for Spiritus Life of Viejo, CA and, before that, Director of Medical Legal Partnership at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, MO. She also worked for five years as a staff attorney at Legal Aid of Western Missouri.
“We are pleased to welcome Amber to NSCLC,” said Executive Director Paul Nathanson. “Her extensive background in handling legal challenges faced by the elderly poor will be extremely valuable in protecting access to quality health care both in California and nationally.”
At NSCLC, Ms. Cutler will advocate on issues related to preserving and strengthening critical health benefits programs that assist low-income older adults (Medicaid, Medicare, long term services and supports). She will focus specifically on a project related to the implementation of California’s Coordinated Care Initiative, which encompasses what is referred to as the dual eligible demonstration.
Ms. Cutler is a member of the California, Illinois and Missouri bars. She received her B.A. from Earlham College and her J.D. from the Washington University School of Law.
The National Senior Citizens Law Center is a non-profit organization whose principal mission is to protect the rights of low-income older adults. Through advocacy, litigation, and the education and counseling of local advocates, we seek to ensure the health and economic security of those with limited income and resources, and access to the courts for all.
