Assisted Living

Assisted living operates without the same level of oversight as other health care providers. A fundamental issue, especially for those older adults who rely on Medicaid to pay for their health care and live in assisted living, concerns whether it provides home and community-based services in a home-like environment.

In a new project starting in 2014, “Making Up for Lost Time: Addressing Problems in California’s Assisted Living System,” NSCLC examines the current outdated system and educates stakeholoders on options for developing an assisted living system that better reflects the needs of today’s resident population.
