NSCLC Seeks Ombudsman Program Improvements

The Administration on Aging recently sought comments on a proposed rule on state long-term care ombudsman programs, NSCLC joined in submitting comments with the Family Equality Council, FORGE, Human Rights Campaign, National Center for Transgender Equality and Services and Advocacy for GLBT Elders (SAGE) in seeking protections for LGBT seniors. The letter recommends adding language that would require the offices to identify and recognize complaints of discrimination. It also calls for training of representatives so that they can better assist “diverse elder populations, including racial, ethnic and religious minorities and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender older adults.”
