Social Security Changes Benefits Letter Policy

NSCLC played a leading role advocating, together with other organizations and members of Congress, against the elimination of printing Social Security Administration (SSA) benefit verification letters at local offices. NSCLC staff met with SSA to point to the serious problems that could result for individual recipients, especially those who have limited income or resources and are without easy access to the Internet. Staff helped to draft letters from various coalitions in opposition, and provided language to SSA to make their July 2014  Emergency Message on the issue more expansive.
