SSI Non-Disability Appeals: What Isn’t Working

(June 12, 2013 Webinar) Over 40 years ago, the Supreme Court ruled in Goldberg v. Kelly that people who faced suspension or benefit reductions  were entitled to an evidentiary hearing with significant due process protections. Sadly, the Supplemental Security Income appeals process is broken. Recipients often receive incorrect information about their rights and many stop receiving benefits pending a determination on an appeal. In still others, the appeal is ignored and not processed at all.  In this webinar, learn about these and other problems encountered by recipients and what should be done to fix the system.

Presenters:
Gerald McIntyre, Directing Attorney
Kate Lang, Staff Attorney

This webinar is supported by a grant from the Oak Foundation.
